SAN ANTONIO, April 12, 2017- For 38 years, UTSA’s Texas Prefreshman Engineering Program has provided an academically intense, mathematics-related summer program which stresses the development of abstract reasoning and problem solving skills. The summer enrichment program is now hiring Instructors and Program Assistant Mentors (PA) for the June 5 – July 27 session.

Positions are open until filled. TexPREP Instructors and PA are temporary, paid employees of UTSA, beginning with orientation on Jun. 5.

The rigorous TexPREP curriculum stresses science, math, computer science and engineering and welcomes teachers and college students in related fields. The core curriculum includes Logic and its Applications to Mathematics, Introduction to Engineering for first-year students; Algebraic Structures and Introduction to Physics for second-year students; Technical Writing and Introduction to Probability and Statistics for third-year students; and Introduction to Computer Science and a choice of Nanotechnology, or Cyber Security for fourth-year students. Applicants must be available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday for the seven-week session. Additionally, there will be a required field trip scheduled on at least one Friday during the session.
