Another Successful P-20 Summit on Parent Engagement

UTSA’s Institute for P-20 Initiatives- P-20 Summit on Parent Engagement brought many parents and students to the UTSA Downtown Campus on Saturday, May 6, 2017. 220 guests filled the sessions that focused on career exploration in preparation for high school, college and careers. Dr. Jeff Goldhorn, Executive Director of ESC Region 20 and Nicole McNish of the SA Economic Development Foundation kicked off the event. Participants enjoyed personal conversations with professionals in fields that were representative of the graduation plan endorsement pathways. Students and parents also learned about how personality types may influence their career choices. One of the more popular hands-on activities was learning how to tie-a-tie during the Career Exploration Fair. The event culminated with UTSA Student Government President, Andrew Hubbard joined by his mother, Elise Vasquez Hubbard speaking about his academic journey as a San Antonio College transfer student to UTSA. Thank you to all our partners that assisted with this event--Alamo Colleges, ESC Region 20, Boerne ISD, Communities in Schools, San Antonio Education Partnership, cafecollege, Valero, and Southwest ISD.
